Deadly Ties Review

"A horrific crime shatters Lisa Harper’s idyllic childhood. Her father is dead and her desperate mother, Annie, quickly marries Dutch Hauk, an abusive monster who soon reveals his hatred for Lisa. To protect her, Annie defies her ruthless husband and forfeits custody to a trusted friend. Enraged, Dutch vows to keep Annie and Lisa apart—and he does. Years later, though keenly aware of Dutch’s evil intent, Lisa and her mother seize a chance to be a family, safe in a home where love dwells. But they fail to fathom how far Dutch will go to keep his vow."

I've not read the first book in the serious, but from what I've heard, only a few characters were also incorporated into this one, and they only had minor parts, so don't worry about it if you haven't read it either, because it's a good, faithful, suspenseful, and just great novel in itself.
Vicki Hinze is a fantastic writer and I really like her work because of her way of developing the character - it made me feel so connected with the main characters of this book, Annie, Lisa, and Dutch. They were each unique and faithful in their own ways.
I like how this book had a faithful element in it but wasn't too overwhelming, like some Christian books can be. The storyline was perfect for me because I really like suspense stories, and very rarely find one that I hate or even dislike.

Disclosure: This book was provided to me by WaterBrook Multnomah for review.
